Situated in Nordland county, Vestvagoy municipality, on a tiny island in the Lofoten archipelago, near the mouth of Buksnesfjorden, Ballstad is a large, postcard-perfect fishing village. It is set at the foot of giant snowy mountains, with the Skottinden peak just to its west and roughly five kilometres south of Gravdal. The town is famous for its striking scene, made up of a massive white peak at its back and bright red houses scattered along the coast. The surrounding hills are a hikers’ paradise, and the area attracts divers and kayakers with its unusual and plentiful sea and glacier landscapes and arctic flora and fauna. There are various luxury and other types of accommodation available.
